Medical-Dental
Clinics and Nutritional Centers
Nicaragua:
The first Clinic was built in the barrio “Oro Verde” on the outskirts of Managua, Nicaragua. The area is under-developed, with dirt roads, open gray water drainage, out houses, and basic inadequate electrical facilities. The advantage of this clinic is its close proximity to hundreds of poor families, and that it is under the continual supervision of a Nicaraguan worker who has been faithful in this ministry from its beginning, and who has a vision to help the poor children of her country. The challenge of this clinic is the presence in the area of dangerous youth gangs who assault persons walking into the area. Because it is a fringe area, there is no police presence. The clinic has a partime physician, pharmacy, feeding program, day care ministry, pre-school/first grade program, children’s ministry, and sewing classes.
This is Center #2

The second Clinic was built in a more centrally located
barrio, La Esperanza, that is easily accessed by a dirt road leading from a major city
street. This clinic employs a full
time doctor and staff. There
is a pharmacy, clinical laboratory, and dental office with
a full time dentist.
Upon the property, a nutritional center building has
been constructed, where meals can be prepared for the feeding programs of
various areas and for outreaches and other activities.
Also upon the property, a beautiful orphanage has
been constructed by another mission team. The
orphanage houses 11 children at present, who are cared for by a
Nicaraguan ministry couple serving as house parents.
The orphanage has some ongoing support, which provides for the physical
needs of the children, with some counseling and educational provisions, since
many of these children have come from traumatic home situations.
The Centers of Hope will provide additional ministry and support to these
children as we are able to do so.
The third Clinic was built, also by another mission group,
in a desert area called “Papalonal”, 3-4 hours from Managua.
The population in this area was formed by refugees from Hurricane Mitch.
This building still needs medical equipment, supplies and a doctor in
order to begin its ministry to the poor.
El
Salvador:
Although no clinic building has yet been constructed
through the Centers of Hope in El Salvador, the Church of God in El Salvador
has, for the last 2 years, designated ministers to begin humanitarian
ministries, working with the Centers of Hope.
Though the last earthquake has greatly damaged the Church of God
facilities in El Salvador, the national workers there are determined to continue
their humanitarian work, and we will support them and work with them as God
provides. We will need to select an
area for a clinic and send a construction team to build it.
Guatemala:
There is presently no Centers of Hope clinic or ministry in
Guatemala, but there is a dedicated Guatemalan minister who has experience in
medical ministry, and he has requested our help in beginning a Centers of Hope
in Guatemala as soon as we have the funds available.
